Great time other than being told I couldnât bring in sharpies. Black and silver, ones that I JUST bought before the show. Oh and Jayâs wife was having a hard time getting to see him backstage after the concert. The security didnât believe her. Poor Braeden. I hope that got sorted out.
Really not liking the $100 for the Blyss DLD vinyl. And not liking no CD release. At least we will get a digital version with bonus tracks and Jason did say âThe Edgeâ will be one of those tracks. Also Revolution Cry is NOT on the vinyl.
Thanks for sharing! I removed the new user restrictions on your account so you can post and attach like normal.
Iâm really stumped on the lack of Revolution Cry. Iâm really just hoping it was an oversight on the artwork. Also really shocked on the price. I expected $50 or so but $100 is definitely steep. More than I paid for the original DLD CD back in 2002/2003 ($75). He could also change the price for better or worse if it goes on the Time Machine.
Edit: Jay just announced yesterday that this goes on sale Dec. 1st.
Thanks! Just uploaded the front. Not like any of this matters now since yeah I saw Jayâs post lol.
I have the original DLD CD too! I also bought back in 2002/2003âŚI talked the seller down to $50. Also it came from someone with the âWadeâ last name soâŚtake that how you will and it was a male sounding first name. I just had Jay sign the CD at the concert. I can post that pic too.
I want to suggest making the CDs limited to one per account on the Time Machine to the point where he takes preorders for a month. Not only can you advertise to get more people to join, especially since itâs not $8 anymore, but you can then only produce enough for who wants them. BUT I would charge $50 free ship. If he wants to sign them, $75 shipped. I should be their manager hahaha. And even that price is a lot, but heyâŚ.itâs DLD and I am only going off of how much they are charging for the vinyl. I just hope the digital will be a normal $9.99 or $14.99 for deluxe. Unless they make it exclusively on their website and send download links once purchased. Then they can charge a ton and pocket all the moneyâŚ.sigh.
I will say the Time Machine was great in the beginning, but itâs kind of becoming not worth it. He hasnât posted anything in weeks. Not even the concert I was at. I understand being on tour and the holidays, but pre-plan posts. Get that all set up to just hit a button. $8 was already steep, now its $12 and you donât get much. No more live âshowsâ no more posting on set days. Idk. I donât even think he will continue posting the individual DLD tracks. Why bother since he has a vinyl now and digital is coming. I also donât get lucky with their free raffle giveaways lol
I donât want to say they seem to be out of touch with the fan base but it definitely feels like that more these days. Kind of ironic being on tour and all. The Time Machine always had its up and downs about content but over the last several months the value has been almost non-existent. Iâve been subscribed since day 1 and looking at the average cost of the content, itâs pretty jarring.
Iâm not saying it needs to be demos and music all the time, but making the Time Machine into a members only site with the content, exclusive merch/updates/interviews, maybe a quarterly live stream, etc. would really make it worth it. At this point I feel like Iâm enabling the problem by continuing to subscribe but I also am not willing to go up $4/mo with whatâs provided now. I think using SquareSpace to host this is doing a disservice too. There are platforms built for this (The Chorus, for example) that would make it easier to facilitate greater functionality and provide more value to fans. End rantâŚ
I asked the one merch attendant at the El Rey Theatre why the price for the vinyls were so much, assuming it was a combination of Jay/Steve and the theatre or just Jay and Steve. Nope. It was all Jay and Steve making the prices. Looking at he pic I took they had 2 signed guitars for $950, hand written lyrics for $300, posters for $30 and vinyls for $100.
Anyway she said that because Jay saw how much people were paying for the OG DLD CD on eBay (around $900) he wanted to get some of that money back.
Now take that with a grain of salt, but if that is true, that would mean that Jay is taking that out on his fans. âI am entitled to that money so I will jack up the price and my fans will buy it.â
Now I HOPE that isnât the case and itâs all for a different reason, but we have to still have this as a possible reason. Plus wasnât there only 1,000 copies made of DLD? Wasnât there about 100 copies of Bliss DLD too and they had to change the name because that was already taken? That was all promo stuff. I didnât think those were even sold at events. More like networking.
Thatâs an interesting take and I really hope thatâs not true.
Regarding the photo of the CD you have pictured, is that the guy that was selling them for $75 way back? Iâve seen a couple show up on eBay in the $100-200 range and even bought one of them until I saw the âSpecial Collectorâs Editionâ and immediately recoiled. I was so confident that it had to be a counterfeit that I reached out to the seller and they took down the listing. I sold my copy back in 2007 or so to another fan on one of these LH fan boards and regret that so damn much. Got that autographed in Boston back in â04/05 by Jason.
Anyway, Iâve had notifications set up on both Discogs and eBay for years and have never seen one list for $900 until Nov 6 of this year (link). The CD doesnât even play per the description and the listing is still active. Iâm really hoping what she said was BS because itâs just not true. The highest price ever sold on Discogs is only $110.47 and thatâs with Revolution Cry!
I never knew about the 100 Bliss copies. I knew there was some but wasnât sure on the breakdown between Bliss vs. Blyss. I could see those copies fetching a bit more but still nowhere close to $900.
That listing is for BLISS? whoaâŚkinda weird that it was just the cover. I wouldnât trust it. I need to see the whole thing. sides, insert, back, CD front and back. If it was authentic, itâs a shame it didnât play.
Yeah I thought that $900 price seemed way too high. I think they wanted more than $75. Closer to $100 if I can recall. There was only one listing when I bought it.
When I showed Jason my DLD, Steve and him both said, âNO WAY, you got it?!â I have the video of the interaction. He never said it was fake. At this point, I donât want to know and just want to believe it is authentic. The CD looks and plays like a normal CD lol. Insert looks official. No crappy print job and text on CD looks great. I thought the same thing about the âPre-Release,â and âSpecial Collectorâs Edition.â My justification is that this was a special release to market themselves. This album probably wouldnât have been rereleased in the exact same way even if they kept the name âBlyss.â The next album would probably have been treated like Lifehouseâs NNF. Even bands like Karaâs Flowers (Maroon 5) had the same feel, but not as rare.
I just looked more closely into the listing and I did see the cd and back of case. The cd is in the same format as my version.
