This is exciting! Just To Be Where You Are was previously recognized as a demo when they were known as āFKAā but Jason mentions that this was recorded during the NNF era within months of HBAM.
Does anyone remember what FKA was? I thought it was the name of their church group? Anyways, love this song!!

I seem to recall reading FKA as being āFormerly Known Asā and being a church group. Stand, Dance, and those other worship-type songs were said to be a part of it. Perhaps this track never was? Either Jason or Jude Cole once said that Lifehouse had never performed live before touring in support of NNF, so if this song as a live track was floating around then it means it was performed prior to the release and mustāve been under a different name. Maybe he was still performing with a church band at the time he wrote this and HBAM, concurrently with creating NNF? So many questions.
I really like this track. Lyrically itās alright, but the singing and melody feels very The Edge era Jason:)

Last night I was driving and listening to the Ode to Silence CD for the first time in a minuteā¦ made me think of the Time Machine Jasonās started up and the lyrics from that song. The chorus goes:
The rain and the tears become one
This doesnāt feel much like living
And Iāll build you a time machine
Do anything to make you happy
And it might be space that you need
If you want me to stay here just ask me
He wouldāve written this between 2018 and early 2021, I imagine referencing the same subject as Windows (and perhaps Little Ocean!). Whether itās his or heās referring to Bowie (Steveās child), it made me smile to think that he did build a time machine after all, now in happier circumstances:)
Iām really excited for A Likely Story. I donāt think heās ever done an album with a single narrative before, but it sounds like heās contextualizing the ups and downs heās had over the years that have led to where he is now. Even putting in songs like What Happens Next (the precursor to Whatever It Takes); seems like heās pulling no punches and holding nothing back, even digging up very very old versions of him (Shadows, J2BWYA) to reflect on. I love when a songwriting career covers two thirds of someoneās life.

This is a pretty one. I get Sufjan Stevens vibes for sure. Some really interesting production moments in the backing vocals and instrumentation, and the cover art is beautiful. Iām quite excited for this group of songs!

I think those lyrics are pretty accurate. I think it might be āand the prophets won everythingā instead of āswore onā and I think it is āA royal welcome walking a beggarās mile.ā I really like this song
